The pig named Angus, 3 years old, belongs to the famous Hungarian curly-haired pig breed, has fur like a sheep, and is smart like a dog.
Peace Ridge Sanctuary animal rescue station has a 3-year-old pig named Angus, of the Mangalitsa pig breed that attracts the attention of many people because it is very special. Angus is often called a sheep pig because it has a double-layered coat like a sheep and has a personality like a dog.
In 2018, Angus pigs were rescued by staff from the Maine state animal protection program (USA). Luckily, the pig did not take long to settle in its new home and quickly gained weight thanks to the good living environment.
“When he was first brought here, Angus worried us because of his bad condition. But now he is a big and bossy pig,” said Melissa Andrew – director of the sanctuary.
When he reaches adulthood, Angus’ fur is up to 10cm long, curly and stiff, making it look more like a sheep or a bear than a pig.
Andrew says: “Angus lives in a neighborhood with two other pigs. He likes to sleep next to his two best friends at night and go on little adventures with his best friend Wilbur.
Wilbur was a very good pig until Angus showed up, and then the pig was like ‘Are you going to mess around a bit, my friend?’.
The Mangalitsa woolly pig is a rare breed of pig originating in Hungary. The unique feature is that it has thick, shaggy hair covering its entire body like sheep’s wool.
