EURO 2024: Ronaldo’s Anger and Disappointment

From excitement to disappointment

Cristiano Ronaldo arrived at EURO 2024 in a more relaxed and happy mood than ever, after 35 goals for Al-Nassr in the Saudi Arabia championship (50 goals on all fronts).

Along with the record of being the first player to win the title of top scorer in 4 different national championships, Ronaldo also scored many goals for the Portuguese team.

Ronaldo’s role as leader is undisputed. His relationship with coach Roberto Martinez is also great.

Ronaldo is present in Germany to set a record for the 6th time attending EURO, something no one has ever done before. This gives CR7 excitement and “motivation like he was participating in the tournament when he was 20 years old” , as he described it.

In the second match of the group stage, Ronaldo became the focus of attention when he showed commendable team spirit by assisting Bruno Fernandes to score against Türkiye.

Everything seemed to be going smoothly for Ronaldo and his teammates until he entered the final match of the group stage, against modest Georgia in every way .

Cristiano is one of the few pillars that Roberto Martinez ranked as the starter against Georgia. He didn’t have a bad match.

The Portuguese captain received a yellow card after strongly protesting with the referee and demanding a penalty.

Ronaldo was very angry when VAR did not intervene in the situation where his shirt was pulled by the Georgia defender. This led to him having a challenging attitude towards the referee.

Group stage is forgettable

Ronaldo leads the number of shots at EURO 2024. He made 12 shots, more than anyone, with the ball hitting the target 5 times.

According to Opta, Ronaldo’s expected goals index is 1.3 goals/match, the highest in the Portuguese squad. That means there are a lot of opportunities for him, it’s just a shame that CR7 has never been able to celebrate a goal yet.
